"Dear Diary,
Drug my tired self to school today. Walked up town. Nancy C, Rose S., Vern B., & Harley followed our bus tonite. Was we mad! Dad & Mom were both at Joe Y's. Dad was pall bearer. Mom helped at the house. She didn't come home till late with Verns. Us kids made ice cream & Vern stayed for a dish."
